Definition of a cylindrical rod lens :

  • It is a lens by its optical polishing quality and its ability to focus light
  • It has a cylindrical shape, meaning that it is made along a curvature axis, and not from only a reference center like a spherical lens. It focus light in a line and not only on a point.
  • Its length along the curvature axis is significantly longer than it’s width.

Cylindrical lens manufacturing process needs specific equipments.
